Copper pennies are O.K.

Got out today for a few hours, no silver, just a bunch of clad. I've been hitting copper pennies at 37-38 on a regular basis which reminds me of using the Ace 250, I would notch out the penny icon to keep from digging zincs all the time. With the Ace, a dime signal would most times be a dime or a copper penny. With the Safari I only dig a few 35-36 signals to keep away from zincs. If I was out hunting cleaner soil I would dig the "Iffy" signals. On another note, used my new Garrett pro pointer today, really good tool, I used the pistol probe prior, I like the way the Garrett "zooms" in as you get closer to target, plus vibrates. I carried both probes today, used the pistol a few times for deep stuff. "Zinc is o.k., Copper is better." Good hunting...

I think all coin finds are ok! :thumbup:lol,i dug two more wheaties last eve. 36-37 (1947-1953)and lots of junk just to be on the safe side,i dug several pull tabs hittin at 24 and peices of deep broken up pie plate 15-16-17, could have been a nickle,i had fun, love the safari!,HH

IH's come up here like crappy zinc, 34-35. I just dig the mid-range and deep 34-35 to avoid zinc. jl

That's a good tip Lud, I'll have to start digging some of them deeper zinc signals. I just move on if they're shallow

Sure, I'd like nothing more than to dig non stop silver, IH's, Wheaties, etc. I'm with a couple of you guys and still dig pennies all of the time. I've gone through phases where I'll pass up fifty or more solid 36's in a day. Very seldom is the Safari wrong and for me 36 to the lower 30's is a zinc, but then I start thinking, a target is a target. That's what I came out for and they're good practice. So for now, I dig them all again.
