Cornwall furnace

Tomorrow my family is going to detect a large area around a ditch the soldiers dug for a water supply for Cornwall furnace. We are excited to go on our first war relic hunt. I’m sure we will dig any solid target and hopefully find a bullet. One has been on my list for a while. I’ll report back any finds good or bad. Wish us luck!

Good luck to you guys----well remember my first minie' ball----hunted all day and walking back to vehicle eyeballed it in the middle of foot path.

The day didn’t turn out as planned but still a fun family adventure. The permission was quite as a mouse, the top soil must have been removed for the lots we searched but we did find some melted lead and some clad. This was on lake that gets pulled way down in the winter so we’ll go back then. The furnace is still there and the stone work is impressive.
