Cortes park hunt.

Hey all, got my Cortes back from Tesoro and took it to a 165 acre park yesterday. Only stayed for about an hour but I got two keepers. A 1903 Indian, and a 1911 Wheat. I had my disc set at the "f" in foil and the sens on 8. I didn't get any deep signals for some reason and got a lot of signals that didn't get a depth reading or vdi number..it just said "foil or iron"...I'm wondering if those are deep signals.

....Indian Head pennies are one of my favorite coins to find, yours looks to be in good shape. That is another reason to dig the zinc penny range.... but in a lot of places I hunt at I don't pay much attention to the meter as a lot of targets are masked by adjacent junk which alters meter readings. On my Deleon I run my disc. lower than yours, mainly between min.and iron and get better 'hits" on the audio and better meter readings on nickels. I have dug up some nice stuff in older areas that are in the iron/foil readings like Buffalo and 'V' nickels and small thin gold rings. The pulltab range of the meter has given up some nice surprises such as a Barber dime on edge at 6", bigger gold rings, tokens etc. When I hunt with a metered detector in a good old site I very seldom rely on meter readings to dig or not. Just my opinion.

Deep signals will most time give a VDI number trouble is that you can not trust that it is right.
