counter weight on a mx sport

ive used a dfx off and on for 17 years.it weights 4 pounds.but the balance is good,im interested in a mx sport.but ive only picked up one at a treasure show, played with it for 15 minutes.and it felt like it weighed five and a half pounds, even thought it weights 4.2 pounds. my question, has anyone that use a sport ever put some kind of a counter weight it.and did it help?

Do you mean that it feels like there is insufficient weight in the back of the MX Sport ? I have an MX7 which is lighter than the MX Sport and I really like the way the detector feels in hand. To me it feels like the weight is the same front to back with the 6" concentric coil on it. I never tried a DFX but I have a Fors CoRe which has a sizeable box under the arm and I never felt it balanced as well as the MX7. Maybe it's just the pistol grip of the DFX that makes it feel quite different to the MX Sport when it comes to balance. Most people prefer pistol grips and some prefer an s-rod configuration. The type of grip definitely influences how someone perceives weight balance on a machine.

like I said,i don't own a mx sport but after picking up one at a treasure show and swinging it a while,it felt very heavy.I don't know if the arm rest can be extended, from the grip to the arm rest is to short.thats puts it out of balance.i guess a small coil would make it a little better.
