Couple finds from 2 other worked to death areas.

I went and decided to hit a small town that I have done really well at before and had in the past got quite a bit of Barber and Silver from. First I tried an older balldiamond and was there for about 10 minutes and got a deep 28-30 reading. I dug down and popped out a 1939-d Mercury Dime in great shape. This was the only Silver that I got and the only coin I recieved from this site due to people showing up to play a softball game. I did come across 3-4 deep targets walking back to the vehicle but didn't have the time to dig them because it looked like they were getting ready to start playing real soon. I will have to go back sometime and try and relocate those targets. After this happened, I decided to go to the town park which I have done well at before also. I found 1 Indian Head Penny that gave me a reading of 27 and I thought it was going to be a Wheatie. I started digging up pieces of glass and then I thought it was going to be a Screwcap but was shocked when an 1905 Indian Cent come up. I went over the hole again and it gave me a solid 31 which I thought was Iron. I also found 1 Wheatie dated 1949-d. And the last thing I recovered was 2 different Tokens. One says "GOOD FOR 100# BEST" on the front and on the reverse it says "SHELDON ROLLERMILL CO." The other Token is from the same place but the front of the Token says "GOOD FOR 100# ACMA" and the reverse is blank. I looked these up in Rick(ND)'s Token Book and they were both listed but for the ACMA Token it was listed as ACME in the book. So I am not sure if I have an ERROR TOKEN or if it is an error in the book. Also both Tokens have been punched so they couldn't be used again which is somewhat a down side. The pics are below and Good Luck and HH to you all during the rest of the week. Actually if the token is not worth anything which I have quite a few of then the punch mark itself is an added bonus I think, knowing the person had it and used it for trade rather than carrying it around. The mercury is is great shape. Again congratulations on the great finds you always get James

Nice going James............:) You seem to do well on those "hunted out places". Must be the fellows before you didn't have Minelab Explorers.......:) Very nice buddy. HH.

Me and Barberboy have pounded the heck out of the Balldiamond area because we pulled a lot of Barber Quarters and Dimes from it and that is what is so shocking when I still can go and find old coins here. I guess it has to do with the sweep speed and Sensitivity Settings and don't forget about the different angles you come at each target. Thanks for the response Eddie and I hope to do well again this coming weekend, if not sooner. Good Luck to you and HH and may the finds be plentiful.

I sure hope there is more Barber Quarters and Dimes out there and in great shape. We will see soon enough.

Thanks James. I have your program set in my XS and will sure give it a try probably on Monday if not sooner. I don't think I will get any seated coins, .........:( but there might be some silver that I may have missed the other times that I was there. I have to agree with you on the fact that a person can go back to the same area that has been hit hard and just by going at a different angle some coins will pop out of the ground that were missed before. Good luck and HH.

We seen some nice barber quarters and dimes come out of this Field plus that 1899 dog tax tag Tim got and to think it was said to have been cleaned out years ago,but it was never Explorered was it?
Maybe in the next day or so I can get time to try it again with the 5 inch coil.

Rick

I can't wait to get back there and try those spots more. Who knows what else I can recover. Hoping for more Barber but will take whatever comes out of the ground.

Hope you are able to hit some targets with the 5" coil and get yourself some silver. I will be watching for you to E-Mail me or post any finds you may recover so the best of luck to you buddy and may they be plentiful.

Just remember Dimes will bounce around a bit if deep and angled from 28-30 and Quarters will sometimes read 30. Hope you have some Good Luck and HH to you Eddie and hope to see some nice finds posted.

I got the Sheldon 125th centennial book today and in it they talk about the Sheldon Rolling mill. This mill was started in 1891 and was closed in 1909 and tore down in 1914, so you token is a old one. They also talk about Acme flour they made, so your one token may be a misprint too. We will see what Gary has to say about it.
Still going on Saturday?? I am trying to make it if possible.

Thanks for the info Rick. I kind of figured that the Tokens were older ones. Still waiting on Gary to give me a response about the Blank Backed Token. The other is worth $20 towards a Gold Coin so I might have to give it a shot in that town again.

Thanks again James for the tips. It's been really warm here and drying up really fast, so I hope the ground doesn't get too hard before I can get out give "your" killer program a try........:) HH.

The 28 for dimes on conductivity while the ferrous will read 3 for a clad dime and 1 or a 2 for silver. The copper pennies too will read 28 conductivity and 3 ferrous. The 29-30 conductivity with ferrous at 2 or 3 seems to be the new quarters while a ferrous of 1 or 0 will be the silver ones. Now what will really throw you off is if you get a 28 conductivity and a 0 for ferrous as those are half dollars as the conductivity will read that of a dime, but the ferrous at 0 means a half for me while a 1 or 2 is a silver dime.

The date on the Merc is kind of weak and I think this is part of the reason for the difference. But it is a 1939 but the 39 is very thin and weaker than normal which is kind of odd for a Merc in that kind of condition.
