I've been out only twice this year due to weather (frozen ground in first half of the month). First trip I found a lot of clad, but no old coins. Strange thing is that I hunted an area I have hunted many times and still found 11 clad quarters, and only a couple were shallow. Don't know how I missed that many. Second trip I found only a few clad coins, but found these two pieces which are interesting. The first is a Victory medal from WW II (about the size of a half dollar). I don't think it was an official military issue, but something bought by soldiers as a souvenir. From my research, it originally hung from a blue ribbon. The back says "In Memory of Landing in Japan" with a picture of Mt. Fuji. The front has a picture of Tokyo Bay. The second find is a small brass padlock, missing the shackle. One source online says these were sold as souvenirs at the 1904 World Fair in St. Louis.
