Couple little silvers this morning.:teknetics:

Haven't been hunting quite as much of late (thought I would never say that) with some heavy rain of late, fishing days and yard work eating into my swinging time. Anyway, grabbed the Omega with the 5" DD coil installed and headed out to the trash pit. Needed some gas and while heading to the pumps noted a volley ball court had been nicely raked and smoothed out. After gassing up I stopped at the court to give it a quick sweep. Right off I hit the "Jeff 2 ring. It's not silver. Must be some of this new space age metal now being used. That was the only target I dug out of the sand. Spent 3 1/2 hours sifting through the trash and dug more trash then good targets. Did, though, manage a 51 Rosie co-located with a tab ring and a babies small sterling ring. 1 of the 4 wheat cents appear to be a 1911, but won't bet the farm on the date. HH jim tn

Hey good work! Is that stone a citrine? Regarding those fake rings...man...they are everywhere! But keep your eyes open for a palladium one, that metal has really gone up in the last few years, some of the newer class rings are being made out of "lustrium" which is some sort of nickel chrome amalgamate...not worth a dang..

So which detector do you usually use, the F75 or the Omega? Are the coils interchangeable? I may be buying a Fisher 11" DD coil for my new Omega detector.

For woods relic/coin hunting, the F 75 LTD gets the nod. For park type coin shooting, the Omega usually is my selection. Coils are not interchangeable. What are you swinging on the Omega, now? The 10" concentric? If so, give some serious thought to the 10" DD over the 11" DD. The one I have anyway seems to have a tighter footprint for trash hunting then the 11." HH jim tn

Well, I just ordered the 11" DD for $80 on this forum's sales. The guy I'm buying i from said he was using it on a Teknetics. I still want to buy a 5" DD. I will be using his in older parks here in California. I wish I had the sites to hunt in that you do. Thanks for your advice but it was available and I didn't want to lose the chance at that price.

I get it! That's a good price and the 11" certainly has its place. Depending on the situation, I use all four coils on a fairly regular bases. You hunt older parks, so the 5" is a must. It is a laser in trash. Good luck out there. HH jim tn
