Spent a long weekend in the Nashville area dogs setting while our youngest son and his bride were on their honeymoons down in Mexico. We had the hounds here for a week and took them back last Sat.
Anyway, acquired the Omega 8500 at Christmas time and really haven't put in much time with it. And, didn't get to on this trio, either. Did, however, get in two short hunts at a park that had yielded me a few sliver coins on previous visits there. This time, though, I just coin shot around the basketball courts and the volley ball court. Had on the 5" DD coil and the only coil I used. Hunted about half the time in DO mode and the other half in D1. Used DO when I worked around the heavy trash area around the basket court and used D1 in and around the volley ball court. Found more coins around the basketball court and also the junk ring and the smaller of the 2 silver rings. Got the larger sterling ring on the edge of the volley ball court and the Sacagawea dollar from out in the sand. It was very deep, but how much past 7-8" would only be a guess.
I like the DO fast filer in heavy trash. Ran 70 sen., 0 disc., no notch and tone D5. Like its predecessor, the 8000, the 8500 love coins. Finding nickels, which I enjoy digging, will take some work with the 8500, it seems. They do seem to have a "zip" tone to them, but the 3-4" deep ones I have recovered so far seem bouncy. Otherwise, dimes, quarters and silver coins lock on at depth very well. Need more time with the 8500! HH jim tn
