Couple questions about the Prism IV

I haven't tried a Prism (yet) and was wondering a couple of things I am sure you folks can answer...
Just want to be sure I understand this properly. In the notch discrimination, IS the Smart Notch totally flexible with regard to things notched in/out?
For example, Can I choose to ONLY have say FOIL accepted while everything else is rejected? The oniline manual tends to make me uncertain and think its telling me that the notch is not able to accept one item only, ANY ITEM.
Second question is about the GB of the unit. Should it need to be adjusted, does it have the capability to do so ??
Thanks very much.
Tony

<STRONG>"I haven't tried a Prism (yet) and was wondering a couple of things I am sure you folks can answer..."</STRONG>... Here's one for you: <EM>What make/model detector(s) do you have or have you used?</EM> Here's another one: <EM>What type of hunting do you plan to do, and what types of sites will you be hunting in/at?</EM>

<STRONG>"Just want to be sure I understand this properly. In the notch discrimination, IS the Smart Notch totally flexible with regard to things notched in/out?"</STRONG>.... No, it is only 'flexible' in the iron thru zinc cent range.

<STRONG>"For example, Can I choose to ONLY have say FOIL accepted while everything else is rejected?"</STRONG>.... Nope, you will still get response from the higher-conductive targets such as copper cents, clad & silver dimes, clad & silver quarters, and all manner of halves and dollar coins, too.
<STRONG>"The on-line manual tends to make me uncertain and think its telling me that the notch is not able to accept one item only, ANY ITEM."</STRONG>.... You can pick and choose by using the Smart Notch and/or the discriminate accept/reject function to reject or accept all of the Target ID segments from Iron to Zinc Cent, <EM><STRONG>but</STRONG></EM> you will still get top-end target responses because you canNOT reject targets <EM>above</EM> the zinc cent range..
<STRONG>"Second question is about the GB of the unit. Should it need to be adjusted, does it have the capability to do so ??"</STRONG>.... Yes, it can be adjusted a little, but the GB trimmer used is a micro-sized and delicate trimmer. It shouldn't be adjusted often, and I have found that it doesn't have the good All Metal AND Discriminate adjustment qualities like those found on the Classic series for GB adjustment.

I usually read a manual with ease and clarity, yet for some reason, the Online Prism manual had me uncertain. I could convince myself either way was accurate in my mind. I needed a tie breaker and you provided it, thanks.
I usually use a simple non-metered unit for my best results in the field however am/was considering trading a backup unit for a prismIV only because of its notch capability. Depending of course IF I could set it the way I would prefer it, not the way some smart system decides it is best.
I guess having high end coins beep through is better than having ALL things above say FOIL beepin at me.
There sure isnt much chatter about the Prism and I also noted today that the dealer in Fl doesnt even have them listed, strange, I say.
Thanks again Monte,
Tony
