Finally warmed up enough to do some dirt fishing. Went back to a spot I had found 4 Indian Heads just before the frost set in last December. Great site. Very little trash and no modern coins yet.

Found these Saturday. 1917 Merc "p", 1907 Barber dime (no mark), 3 Indians 1903 plus 2 toasteds, 2 toasted wheats, and a very hard to figure out Shield Nickel. Only visible characteristic of the nickel is the bars on the shield every other aspect is gone.

My first barber and first shield nickel.

Nice saves!

Congrats on your 'firsts'.

Barbers are hard, but those shield nickels are really tough...especially with any detail left.

Lots of toothpicks and lots of patience does wonders on IH's and Nickels! I've never found an IH that I couldn't get a date off of. Nickels are another story. Great Hunting Spot! Congratulations!:beers:

Yeah nice finds!I have not found a shield yet though..
