cracked head phone wire

The protective plastic around my headphone coil wire has small cracks where it comes out of the ex cal 2 .Any suggestions on how to repair this my thought was to use liquid tape

I'd play it real safe and use Shoe Goo (sold at Walmart and other stores in the Shoe repair section). It's a real thick rubber cement type material (but better). It stays plyable so it won't crack. Better yet, use the liquid tape first and then the Shoe Goo.

Scott can you post me a picture...So the HP Coiled cord has cracked where it comes out of the pod? And it's not under warranty? Has the audio degraded any yet? Weaping that has already occured is what I'm worried about........

After thinking about this, I would say your going to need to send her to Minelabs for the fix since you go under for extended periods of time. Taking a chance with a quick fix could be to costly in the long run. If it were mine, I go under once and awhile, a patch or sealer would work..but scuba. Best to be fixed, pressure tested and not have to worry about everytime you head out...............I think I remember a few other hunters having this issue, Tomcat, and DualField Hunter,,with there new excals..I would call, chat and complain. GoodLuck..joe

thanks i tried to send to pictures, had to send through email to you because they were too big to post here. I was in Florida 2 weeks ago and never noticed a problem. Now I am going back next week and don't think I have time to send out for fix. I think I will try the patch for now, the warranty is over 2 years old now. What about just buying new head phones, is the wire complete with headphones? Could I just re wire? Thanks for the advice. Scott
