This was a thrill to find on a local beach.
Not old by our land hunters' standards it's only 145 years old.

At this time we're scared to attempt to clean it up 'cause we don't know if it's worth anything yet.
Just thought it'd be something different to look at.
Oops just noticed kenzoguy asked about oldest coins and ours is already paling into insignificance.

Tomorrow will come and you will find one of those ancient coins, BECAUSE they are there. It will happen when you least expect it.

Hi John,
We're not that bothered about finding old coins, it's just that you wonder when it was dropped and by whom. The thing that we like so much is the beep of finding anything other than foil n ring pulls.
It's not as if we were trying to get older coins, but yeah I'm sure we'll pick one up from time to time.
BTW thanks for the words of encouragement.
Our daylight hours are creeping in getting dark around 16:30.

Now that is a coin to be proud of:thumbup:

Hey it's older than I am so it's ooold. :) Very nice find my friend. Have you looked it up to see if it's worth anything?

Makes you wonder where it came from and how it got there. Must have been passed over by a lot of swingers I would think........

I found an 1854 Canadian bank token in my own yard. House built in 1905 and the trolly used to go past and turn the corner where I live. Gives me an idea where that coin came from. Maybe....
