The crops are coming out here in southern Michigan. Had a chance to get out with the deus for a quick hunt a few nights ago. Found this 1834 large cent in an iron infested spot that I have hunted a few times before. I was using deus fast, working slowly. A solid 94 and tone amongst the iron. The 1847 came from a site that I have never detected before. The field had been plowed recently. There were pockets of iron but not too dense I was switching between gm-power and fast mode. I got a good tone but numbers were jumping from 97 down to 92. The tone however had that sweet sound to it. I dug a hole the full length of my shovel blade, swept the dirt thinking the target would be in the fresh dug soil. Not the case so I swept the hole and it was still there. I looked down in the hole and could see the 1847 lc in the bottom of the hole. I was impressed with the deus depth, I've been detecting a long time and plowed fields are difficult to get good depth in. The blade on my spade is 12 inches. Happy hunting.
