CS 6PI

Hi all,

I am new to PI machines and have just bought a second hand (but like new) C scope CS 6PI.
To set it up it says have the head in the air whilst setting the threshold, does that mean high in the or does it just mean keep the head off the ground ?
Sorry to ask a daft question but was surprised with in air testing??
I didn't see much difference in depth/mid air tesing with a gold ring between the cs6 and my Silver sabre micro max ?
Also the more I turn the frequency switch clockwise, will I loose in depth ??
Thanks for any help you can give me !!!

I would lower the coil to your hunting height, and set the threshold as to just hear it. Regardless of how, just set the threshold to just hear it.

Can't remember what way does what on the Freq. control. Set to Min. or the highest pitch audio. Not certain if yours is marked as such, or has the change in pitch. Please excuse, it's been a long time since I have seen one.

In air test it may not be any more range over your Silver Sabre. In the ground will be a different story. The Silver Sabre has to deal with the ground matrix before it can report a signal, but the CS6 won't be bothered by it. Where the PI will really come on to it's own is in mineralized ground, and the salt environment. The stronger it is, the greater the performance differences will be between the Silver Sabre, and the CS6, favoring the CS6.

Hi and thanks Mr Bill,

I will try and have just read also that I need to have it with a little hum to get the best depth out of the cs6pi too.
I have two more questions though ...
1.

Does the meter on the cs really mean anything, I know that they say it's to show the strength of the signal, so does that relate to the size of the object and the depth? Is it worth while keeping an eye on it at all times ??

2.

When I change the frequency will this work a little like dicriminating in the way that I will loose out on some metals ie Gold ? Also will I loose in depth should I change the frequency ?

Thanks again for your time and any answers you have..
Andy
