CS7UMD Modifications

Mark L

New member
I have an old CS7UMD PI. Does anyone know of any modifications I can make on it to update this old PI ? Thanks, Mark

Mark,

I would leave it stock if you still plan to search the ocean, An increase in sensitivity may create poor stability especially in the surf and wet sand.

I have a CS-6 and when I applied some of the mods it only made the unit operate with poor stability in the wet sand and surf, For inland the increased sensitivity worked great but not for ocean use.

My two cents worth,

Most mods on these models involve the increase(lower number) Usec. and while this works on the sand, in the water you usually have to increase the Usec to a higher number to compensate for the mineralized salt in the water. Don

There's really no need to up-date this unit. The circuit is as modern as most anything out there.

At one time it was the hottest PI on the salt beach's. The minimum pulse delay is at 15uS., and the circuit is controlled by a PIC. They had some quality control problems with them, but if it's working, I would certainly use it. Get yourself a real good scoop, your going to need it. :)
