[size=large] Gary Williams, owner of Hanover Brass, the largest maker of reproduction Civil Way buckles said this: Vernon , It is a very nice plate. Could be Mass. but has that Confederate style sand casting. One thing for sure, it is period. The hook is Civil War or before style. That is a nice find and what keeps the interest in buckles going strong. You did a lot of research and as you see, it sometimes is hard work but a learning experience and interesting. May you have even better luck in the future and again that is a beautiful belt plate. When ever you are close by stop in and see me or better yet lets make a Cold Harbor relic hunt in cooler weather. regards GW
