[size=large]This is where we went. There are two stone chimneys in this photo. The remains of what is still standing is 12 feet high on one and 7 foot on the other. I can see them in the photo because I know where they are but surprised they didn't show up well in the photo, even if you click to enlarge. Thick tangle of briers and downfalls.[/size]

[size=large]I put on the little 6" DD shooter coil because I knew there'd be a high concentration of junk. Unfortunately the coil was malfunctioning. It wouldn't ground balance or pinpoint, so I had to use the big 12" Spider coil. Definitely not my choice on a site like this. But even swinging something the size of a trash can lid, I did manage a couple interesting finds. The first is half of a woman's silver plated sash buckle.[/size]

[size=large]My friend Chris, who I was detecting with, was fortunate enough to have a working small DD coil and after crawling on his belly down a rabbit trail through a thick briar patch, he managed to find this 1866 GAR medal. I could hear him hollering about finding something really neat. He thought it was an old sheriff's badge. After I pulled him back out by his feet we discovered it was a Civil War veterans reunion badge; below is a photo of what it would have looked like intact... very cool find.[/size]

[size=large]Here's some of my more interesting finds, I won't include the wheel barrow full of junk and whatnots. I think Chris might have talked the farmer's son into coming in with a bush hog and cutting down some of the briars and windfalls. There's still a lot of stuff to find at this site.
