CTX Nulling...

Kyseeker

Hello all,
I just recently got my CTX 3030 and truly enjoy using it (and have had some success with silver and CW relics). I do have a question about something I have noticed about the machine. While hunting an old home (built 1815), my CTX was basically "nulling" the whole time. The thing that stands out to me is that if I hit a high tone target - while nulling - I will get a slight high pitch threshold type tone in the "backgroung" that will continue till the machine hits another target or stops nulling. Is this normal? Could it be that I am running my sensitivity too high? I normally run in manual because in a lot of cases, the auto sensitivity will have me running at about a 16 and I loose a LOT of depth.

Would like to here thoughts and or knowledge...

Thanks.

Are you running stock program if so all the blue squares are disc out if you go to the second screen you will hear all the iron and junk with no nulling this is open screen .

Both of the above except unless you are using the factory relic program the other preset programs have one line of disc,at the very bottom.FE line 35 which will cause nulling. To stop all nulling make sure that line is opened up.

Yess check to make sure your not in pitch hold. Also if you are using long in really nail infested sites can act the same way as far as a constane tone between taegets.

Thanks for the response(s). I am running in "normal" tone. However, Foreign object, to your point regarding the FE Line 35. I checked and yes it was there. I removed it and I am sure this will help. Truly appreciate the responses! Can't wait to get back out.

Why not 'Pitch Hold'? Doesn't Pitch Hold, keep that higher pitched signal for you, till you hit a different target? I would think you would want to hold on to that higher tone.

zippy, the OP was just wondering what could be causing the symptoms that seemed similare to 'pitch-hold'...it wasn't meant to say 'pitch hold', per se, was bad.

Although it's true I don't like 'pitch hold'.
Tried it, hated it. Some guys love it. :)
I guess that's why there's four different options...everybody is different.

Myself, I go back and forth between 'normal' and 'long', depending on the level of trash. (normal is faster responding...all the others require extra processing)
I know some guys who swear by 'smooth'.

What's really cool is that we all get to choose.
