?? CW Item ??

Found this in a CW camp but one of my friends said it was WW I. The letters do look a little different than CW items. Does any one know for sure??

looks like collar pin from ww1 or later what did it register.

since you found it in Culpepper it could be civil war and possibly cavalry. Can you post a pic of the reverse?

Did it have a Tin back? Looks circa 1911. During WW I the US Army still used Horses for mounted Cavalry. Nice find regardless. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

put on a search for:
US army collar brass 1918 to 1939,you will find it

Don, I've found a similiar stamped US but it was from a cw calvary camp. The one I found still had most of the steel pin in the back. Although it looks to large to be a rossette. What does the back look like? Judging from the size as compared to the dime it almost looks like a cover to a shaving mirror. I was lucky enough to find both halves of one with about 90% of the mirror still inside. Send me a picture of the reverse and I may be able to solve this one for you. Definitely a good find! Keep up the good work!

Don, On the other hand I believe you do have the front to a rossette or what they call a bridle "Bit Boss". I've enclosed the front and back with the Merc to show size. You can see the pin on the back.
once again, GREAT FIND!<img src="http://" alt="" />
