Cz3d talk...

I know this has been discussed a bunch. My 3d (1021 series) airtests a dime at 9-10 inches max. talked with Tom D but he cant help on the depth, just calibration. Talked with fisher and not sure they can either.Hmmm whats with the 11 inches plus I hear the 1021 series is supposed to get? Waiting to hear back from fisher to see if I can send it in and at least take a look see and maybe recalibrate if nothing else..

Mike,

I don't think FT will do much if anything about that air test depth you are getting. Sounds pretty good to me. Remember, it's IN GROUND functional depth that you are looking for anyway.

Those air tests are to make sure your CZ is working a above average to optimal in IDing coins with the detector set at certain settings. If your CZ3D can ID older silver coins, Indian Heads and V Nickels at 10-11 inches in the ground, with a repeatble high tone, then I say yours is good to go.

heard back from fisher and you are correct, cant do nothing about the depth. Guess Id better get out and use it to see what it does:))

I would get out and start hunting. Air tests can be messed up by a lot of things. I would jump in and see how it does. My later CZ air tests in the 9 to 9 and a half range and finds a ton of stuff. My 1021 does air test better but I am not sure I have ever hit anything with it that my newer one missed. Let us know how you get along.

Got out for two hrs with the CZ3D.Been many months since I detected. Hit a baseball area that has given up silver yrs ago. Got a well worn 1908s barber dime at about 5 inches that I nicked slightly, a 50's wheatie and a little clad. That barber sure surprised me when it popped out.Dont know how I missed it in the past.I think the stick pin bounced between foil and zinc if I recall right.I detected in Enhance mode.Several foil to nickel bounces were foil targets.Had fun for the short time I detected:))

air test should be done in the salt mode also,,,, congrats on the barber !!!

We don't hunt coins in the air and Fisher does have a standarized lab depth they achieve on new units.

Remember in the ground and expertise of the operator is where its at, go slow learn the audio and the deep silver will be in the pouch.

Still remember my original CZ6 back in 92 and my first 10 inch silver dime which I almost gave up on because using other units previously I said no unit will go this deep so it must be deep junk
covered up the plug and on the way back hit it again and dug some more and it went in my pouch so hang in there and forget about those ball park so called airtests...

dan is correct! doing air tests with a cz is not a true indicator of what the detector will ''see"
in the ground! cz's need the "dirt matrix" to indicate "true" depth of the unit, and,of course this has many variables
such as mineral content, proper ground balance, etc!..etc!
