CZ3D vs CZ70

Is there any difference in depth between the 3D and the 70. I have a 3D, but was looking to maybe trade it for a CZ70. I am needing the notch feature that is on the 70. I just wanted to make sure I didnt lose any depth in makeing a trade like this. Thanks, Mark
 
but not by much. The CZ3d is good for about 8-9" and the CZ70 is good for about 10-11". Now, that's in discriminate mode, all'metal, you might hit a few faint targets deeper then that. You will like the CZ70, it's one of my favorites.
 
CZ3D in advanced mode should be as deep as the CZ70 in normal mode..
CZ3D in regular mode is also in salt mode so may not be as deep as the CZ70 in regular mode...Do remember there are hotter CZ's in all models depending how they are tuned and taking two like models one might be a tad deeper..To answer your question no you will not be loosing any depth getting a CZ70 and the superior notch system, night light nd weather resistant features are nice and not available on the CZ3D....
 
Cortes, CZ5, CZ3d Gt&i1500, Conquistador, Whites Classic ID to name a few and they all got about 8-9". Now could they hit a little deeper target then 8-9", yes, I have dug Mayonaise Jar lids at 12"+, but not coins. Now I have retrieved coins after diggin a 12-13" hole, but thats because they coin was elusive ans mostlikely slide further down in the hole with each scoop of dirt. My soil here is pretty tame to boot.

Now I have dug targets as deep as 11-12" deep with my Coinstrike and maybe a tad deeper targets with the Quattro and T-2. Now, I'm referring to coin sized targets, I don't relic hunt much.
 
The soil is what they call gumbo and can get hard as a brick when dry. The ground will actually crack and a lot of the coins fall down in the cracks and when it rains the coins are now on edge. We get a lot of targets that are dug on edge. that is another thing a machine has to be for me to keep it. It is a must to be able to find coins on edge at at least 8"s. Don't know about the coin strike. Had one put 200 hours on it and when it would not hit a quarter deeper then 8"s it got gone in a hurry. Cortes,1500,Conquistador,Classic Id are all 8 to 9" machines down here and why I don't own them. Got a Exp ll with the Joey coil will get 8 to 9"s and that is all. Same with the 7.5" M/L coil. Don't hunt with the big coil but it is 10 to 12 in wide open places but I don't hunt in those kind of places. I have been hunting for 20 years and NO they don't fall down in the hole. I hunt the old deep coins down here. I can go dig clad all day long if I want to. I am not interested in digging clad unless it is quarters and dimes and I do go quartering once in a while. In most places I can run high sensitivity and get away with it. Besides I have hunted with Fishers for 20 years and I know what is a good target from a false target and I dig very little iron with my fishers. Dig more iron with the M/L's then I do with my fishers. BTW the little ID Edge is great in the iron. Just put the little 5.75" coil on and dug a 1903 barber dime yesterday at a measured 7"s. When I am testing new machines and new coils I always take a tape measure with me so I will know for sure and I am careful about digging as I need to know the machine will at least go 7 to 10+"s as that is where the old coin strata is here. Like I said if you don't have a good machine that will Id and go 7 to 10"s you might as well go home and take up something else. Not very many old coins have I found at under 8"s down here and if they are down less then 8"s then it is in the trash or the Iron. You must have a coil and a machine that will separate targets above and beyond all the other machines. . I spend a lot of time metal detecting and not much time Posting. There is not much competition here as most of the old guys have died off but they sure put a hurting on the places I hunt. Not much good stuff left and what is left is deep as hell. So come on down here and I will treat you to some of the finest food you ever ate. We Cajuns know how to eat. Bring your Fishers, Shadow X5, Mxt,( The only Whites worth anything) or Explorer,or Sov. and you will really see what digging a deep target is all about. I will take you to some places that is so filled with Iron and trash that it makes guys give up on metal detecting, but that is where the good stuff is. Oh bring small coils and don't plan on using anything over 8". DD coils do work good down here though. Sorry for the long Post but you seem to have Challenged me and I just wanted to put you straight on a few things. Sorry if you don't believe me. The old guys around know me and know I don't B.S.. I tell you just like it is. I own the best machines on the market. This is my hobby and I put a lot of time in on it. Why in the hell would I even own a machine that does not preform at the depth I need them to preform at. The only machines that will preform down here are Fishers, MXT, Shadow X5, Sov., Explorer, and the Golden MM ( but only if you run the Golden at Max and small coil). To put some more time on the ID Edge. It is great in the iron and trash due to fast recovery. For hunting coins on edge you got to have a fast recovery and it has to be tops at separating targets. It is looking like the ID Edge is going to separate and and work better in the trash then the MXT. Need more time on it though. It is a keeper anyway. That is a hard choice to make though. All are very close. I really like the 3D though. Works great on the corroded coins and deep corroded stuff. However my Shadow X5 will beat them all on the deep stuff on deep stuff. You just have to learn that sweet ramp up and ramp down audio of the X5. A lot of guys are just to lazy to take the time on machines and they expect them to preform miracles. Nice hearing from you John. I am headed over to FL. the end of the month to see Kids. Will probably go down to Cape Coral and see my buddy Chuck and hunt a few Seminole War places he has got for us and go Beach and Water hunting with him some. :D: :D: M/L's all have a slow recovery even my new X70. pissin off the side of a bridge and one guy comments to the other guy how cold the water is and the other guy comments yes, it sure is and it's also deep to.

But it's what ever works best for you. Unfortunately my health won't let me dig any major holes anyway. So 8-10" and maybe an occassional 12" is fine with me.
 
Here in N.E. Pa. the coins fall deep..I would call a 6-8 inch coin run of the mill, 8-10 inch nice depth and now and then have found silver coins up to the foot range using the stock 8 inch coil..A lot depends on the mineralization, how deep coins fall in your area, tuning of your CZ and of course your experience. Actually after using a lot of brands including some of the depth demons a CZ coil for coil is as deep as any on the market. Of course only my opinion with my ground conditions and experience and yours may differ...
 
There is nothing worst then having a inferior machine that will not ID and get the depth that is required to get the deep good targets. Also having someone come along behind you and go over the same area you have just been and digging good targets deeper then you can. It is like having someone say "OH Sir, I think you missed this one." Thats what happends when you have a inferior machine and I don't and won't have any of them. If anything I am going to be the one that will be saying that to myself. Especially if they think or act like they know it all. Nothing pleases me more then showing up a smart ass. I know the machines that work for me and the areas that I hunt. I hunt all over the U.S. Thats the reason for so many machines. Plus it is fun taking one out that you have not used and trying to remember all the little things that will get the good deep stuff. It is sort of like riding a bike. You never forget the basics as long as you have taken the time to really learn your machine. Anyway enough of this. I see we agree to disagree and that is OK with me. The newbies will never learn anything if we don't have discussions like this. They are lucky they have Forums like this to learn from . I had to learn so much on my own in the past as there was no computers and the old guys just would not share anything with you. Like it was some deep dark secrete .There is a lot of guys on here that are smarter then me and have been hunting longer then I. I read a lot and I try to learn something everyday. I'd say it's too close to call. Both are good machines. Fisher stopped making the CZ-70 a couple of months ago. That might present a problem for you.

You might just put that MXT up. Good to hear you are seeing the same thing I did with the Edge. Lightning fast recovery in iron and sees the small stuff down in there too. I tend to run it a little hot for conditions which makes for some falsing on the iron but it so easy to tell the difference and a quick resweep tells you for sure its iron. Only thing I can compare it to is the Advantage with the 8" DD. Not to shabby for a 8" concentric coil!!

COIL FOR COIL CZ IS DEEPEST BUT U KEEP SELLIN' THEM OFF FOR A MINELAB?

Unfortunately every unit has their give and take aways...We need a CZ with a 1-100 meter as I have a shoe box full of wheaties that came in as coins all and most were deep...Minelab Expl. on the other hand has 3 ways to tell ID number, tone ID, and placement on the screen and an experienced operator should never dig a wheatie unless going for an iffie along with a small telephone book for a manual and a heavy poor ergonomic cosmetic body..In short a CZ is user friendly and much easier to handle..Didn't have a problem learning the Expl. but the weight sort of broke my back. Hope the explanation helps and do remember talking about my neck of the woods and yours may differ.
