CZ6a for relics

John(Tx)

New member
I've had good luck with my CZ6a for coin hunting but have never tried it for relic hunting. Has anyone used it for relics? Is the 8" coil the way to go or is the 10 1/2" coil better? Thanks, John

At a ghost town back down in OK. Basically, you whichever size coil is best suited for the terrain and target density. When it comes to discrimination, just dig everything that doesn't signal iron. Heck, if it's a BIG iron target, you might want to dig that, as it might be a gun, bayonet, or some other desirable iron relic. If you are in a clean area, but know that there is a campsite, building, or something else there, then listen for the iron tones. When you start getting iron hits, and start seeing brick shard, potshards, broken glass, etc., then you're on your site.

Although basically a silver coin hunter, have found my share of buttons, buckles and the like...As far as the 10.5 its heavy covers a lot more ground and goes a bit deeper than the stock 8....

I dig up all kinds of relics with my CZ5 . I dig every tone but Iron and foil and have real good luck.Of course Iron sounds off as good tones a lot of the time so I still find iron relics also. There are just so many nails that I try to pass them up. I am sure that I have passed up gold by not digging foil but I have more time to dig good targets. The cz s are killers on musket balls and buttons. HH
