CZ6a in wet sand

Would assume you are talking about wet salt sand..Main thing is to ground balance in the wet sand and in many cases you would run in lower sensitivity in salt mode.
Freshwater same scenario but run in regular mode.
Other setting relative volume and Disc. depends on your hearing and personal preferences but remember gold rings can fall anywhere on the meter with foil being the hotspot and some extremely small chains may come in as iron...

I always run my 6a in discrimination mode 0, so I can hear the low iron tone.
You can then hear those low/high bounces and not get fooled if you have the discrimination set so you don't hear the low iron tone.
Also, if you can ground balance in normal mode and not get a lot of falsing, do so and run it that way. It's more sensitive to gold in normal mode.
There are certain beaches I can GB in normal, others I can't and have to run in salt mode.

Years ago even on same beach depends on what the waves brings in rel. sens. adjustment. and ability to ground balance in normal mode certainly made a difference relative depth and sens. to gold items especially small chains, earrings and the like.
As far as accepting iron the N.J. beaches are loaded with iron and is not feasible however your beaches may differ...

I have been hunting the NJ beaches..,,that is mostly what and where I hunt. The beaches have been pretty sanded in, and I agree, some of them you have to run the discrim at 1 to eliminate all the iron low tones. Also, lots of the beaches you have to GB in salt in the wet sand.

What is the difference? I have the 6a.
Finer ground balance can be had by bobbing but not much difference either way. Also its possible to balance slightly positive or negative by bobbing by an experienced CZ user to make your CZ more proficient in the particuliar area you are hunting. I would practice the bobbing method in your back yard until you become proficient and then in the field a bob or three and your on your way with a properly ground balanced unit and doing positive or negative is only for the experienced user...

Thanks. I always wondered what the difference was. Just never checked into it that deep.
Normally you would ground balance with no change on the up and down pumping of coil....Positive slight audio when it bobs towards ground..negative slight audio when it bobs away from ground...Positive usually used in good ground for a little extra and negative in bad ground or perhaps a real bad saltwater beach...not for the novice but you might experiment under extreme conditons either way. From what I understand most units with a set ground balance its usually a tad positive...
