It being digital you can take out individual notches without notching out the notches that would be below in on the analog meter version.
Three tones not 4, and uses 9volt batteries instead of AA's.

Used to be my primary machine for years. Found tons of silver and many Indian Heads. Good deep machine. Will false on deep iron, but many will. Just picked up one up out of nostalgia. Was in great shape and came with an extra 10.5 inch coil. You should be able to find one out there for 3 bills or less. HH!
 
You can get a new coil. Any one of the three coil sizes that are listed for the CZ-3D will work with your CZ (5 inch, 8 inch or 10.5 inch).
