Daily finds with the Core

I made it out today to an older estate as the fields are being planted. I only managed a couple of older coins, one 1887 IH and what I suspect is another Chinese coin from the 1700s. At least that's what the last one was. I'll look it up later. I was kind of bummed upon washing the Indian head penny, that pretty green patina came off... I don't care what the coin shops say, I like my green Indians!! Some interesting relics today, including an ornate gas valve, three make up cases, skeleton key, etc... This is a deeper site due to the fine soil. All older targets ranged from 6-10", and all non ferrous targets gave solid four way hits. I dug some iron at 12-14" hoping they were deep coins, no dice...but I did end up with some cool horse shoes(not pictured) and a small hammer head.

I ran in DI3, 90 Sens, 10 mask, gb stayed around 70-75. I was using both the standard and large coil today to cover some ground as this place is HUGE!

Good huntin all!

Nice digs.

Great stuff TH! Keep the posts coming! You like old fields? I've honestly never thought about them, except when I know an old house site used to be there! Lol

Sorry guys, I could have sworn I replied to this post. Must not have hit send....Lol. Bubba, old plat maps are your friend. You will be amazed how many old homes in the country are now (long since) fields. Greaser, one case is plated the other I'm fairly certain is sterling. Although not marked, there are no signs of peeling or flaking, only tarnish. Jack, I know it's kinda cheating, but these Chinese coins are my oldest to date, puts me square into the 1700s! My oldest American coinage is an 1830s hard time token and 1840s large cent, still not bad for this part if Michigan! Thanks for the kind comments guys!

Saaa-weet finds.
