Dang! Close to 7000 people have read the PP field tests. This must be a popular place.

Now if they all bought one that's:thumbup:

I have heard that the other one, the Pistol Probe is is getting a lot of complaints, because it looks so much like a real pistol, and people just don't want to be seen wearing or using it. And Garrett got rid of those nasty tuning knobs on theirs, the PP has 3.

Yeah these days one doesn't want to be seen walking around with anything that even remotely resembles a pistol. I was wondering about that when it first came out.

I will be honest with you. This was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it. I did buy one and I love the thing and even before I got it I bought a can of white spray paint to offset its' appearance but I have been too lazy to paint it. I am highly visible where I am MD and I have had no problems with it whatsoever. Where I live or used to live someone gets shot and killed it seems every week. Once people see you sticking it in the ground and waving it at the ground they realize that it is an instrument associated with what you are doing. Another thing that offsets this is that you have a raptor on the other side, an apron in the front for finds, kneepads, your wearing headphones and then to top it off you're swinging this long broom-like thing. They know your doing something different. Now if I just wore the PP ONLY on my side and just carried it on in my daily routines that would probably cause some trouble. No doubt in my mind about that. We even have a security guard in the library!

SO what I am getting at is that it did cause me some concern before I got it but now that I use it and feel comfortable with it I have not had one problem with the thing, I have put a lot of hours in with it at my side too. This unit in general is selling very well and I am very happy with mine. It goes very deep for a probe. Would I change some things it? Sure I would. I would change the color because of the very thing we are talking about AND a vibration mode would have been nice, Other than that I think it is a great tool to have at one's side.
