Darn:rage:: Excalibur vs. Explorer Se Pro

I just had to ask if anyone else on here felt this way. I have been using my excalbur 2 for land hunting lately as my best friend has been coming hunting with me and the Se Pro seemed better suited for a newb to use. Yesterday, however, he asked me to check signals for him frequently and I have noticed one thing going back to that machine, after days and hours of using the Excal. The Se Pro seemed almost crippling to me. I got used to hearing all the sharp, crisp, clear tones and knowing almost exactly what was under the coil with the excal. Then I put on the headphones for the Se Pro and I heard the sci-fi noises it makes and thought, wow, I dont remember this sounding so terrible!!!! I love the sounds the excal puts out! The screen seemed to almost cripple us both as well. I just wish there was an option on the Se Pro that would ouput the "clean" sounds like the excal, rather than sci-fi alien noises. Now that I have vented, has anyone else noticed this? Now I have once again lost my confidence in the Se Pro :rage: as it seems confusing to me again after spending more time on the excal. Anyone have any tips on how to get my confidence back? Thank you, Marc

get rid of the Excalibur and use your SE Pro,

I have the E-trac and the Sovereign GT, and I admit that the sounds are not as solid and clear as the sovereign gt,

but the E-track is the metal detector of my choice when I go to the park where I am not allowed to dig holes or plugs and need to now what's under the coil and pin point the exact location of the target to pop it out with a screwdriver,
even in the wet sand I find it very stable a great for pinpointing targets,
the main problem for me is weight,

I still prefer the Sovereign GT hip mounted for the wet sand.

alright, you win, and your right. I can't blame the machine's tones when its me that forgot what to listen for. I just needed to hear it from someone else. I'll take the Se Pro out and re-learn it. Thanks for setting me straight, I needed it

I have both and have no problem using either. The Excal is beach only for me. The Explorer is my go to land machine. I love the sounds that each of them make. I have never used my Excal on land but I just might try it.

Hi Surfman, I bought the Excal with the purpose of only using it for diving, however, I have had great luck with it on land. It might just be because I have put infinitely more hours on the Excal than on the Se Pro. By now I am confident 90-95% of the time whats under my excals coil, whereas I am confident maybe 5-10% of the time whats under the Se Pro's coil. It's just a matter of putting in the time and learning it I suppose. Give your Excal a try on land, I love using mine and regularly do better than others with great land machines. One thing you will notice, however, if you still have the original shaft on your excal, it will become much more uncomfortable to swing after a few hours than you are used to with the Explorer. HH and thanks for your input
