I've been pounding parks & schools in my area for the last year with a Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300 (have to say real descent 1st machine) and have aquired good results picking up clad like a monster to roughly 5"deep. As time went on I felt the need for a more serious detector and months of reasearch led me to the Minelab Safari. Yes I did seriously concider the Explorer SE Pro and the E-trac but for what I do the Safari will work nicely.
So today I am ready to maiden the Safari after receiving it on thursday. Yep spent 2 days going over the instruction manual AND Andy's book for the Quattro/Safari. I would like to say that Andy's book is a VERY valuable part of this detector, he explains the theory behind all the available adjustment for these detectors. My main goal was to have a detector that goes deep to up my silver count and handle wet salt sand, "Nuff said = Safari FBS Performance".
Patients is the key when learning to speak Minelab, "What a symphony of sound!" Against all that has been advised I took the Safari out to a trash infested school yard (Older school circa 40's). Instant frustration until I remember to slow down the pace, it got better then it hit! Silver! I knew it was there, I'm on my way! Keepers = (1) 1942 Merc, (1) 1946 Wheatie, (2) coppers: 1961 &1969, (1) 2000 clad dime, (3) zincs that didn't make the cut or the pics.
HH everyone,
Roy
