Never let anybody ever tell you that a location has been hunted out!!!! So far I have heard that the place closed down in the 60's, 70's and the 80's, And I heard that it was opened in the 20's. I ran into some people MD'ing, they said they have been hitting that place for years and years and that it all about dried up!!! They said they used to find Standing Liberty quarters all of the time, same with half dollars. I haven't found any coins yet, but I haven't even touched the field yet. I have just been hunting around the edge of the tree line (by the big trees).
I went back to the Boy Scout camp today, I was all over the place. But it paid off!!!!
I found 6 Bollo's (Neckerchief holders) a pocket knife, large button, small glass jar, an old lock, a aluminium token dated 1945 its hard to read (corrosion) but it says something about the war and waist paper and has Dwight D. Eisenhower on it and it has the Boy Scouts symbol on it, and some kind of belt holder.
My favorite is the Bollo with the Statue of Liberty on it. It says "Strengthen the Arm of Liberty".
I tried to get a good pic of the token, but Its too small and I cant focus my camera to see the writing on it.

Great finds TF, you da man.

There are coins there. You just haven't passed your coil over the right spot. Here's a drawing showing a concentric coil overlapping 50% on each pass. Notice how much real estate you still miss at depth. This is why no area is ever completely hunted out. Many people don't bother to overlap so miss much more area.

To put it in perspective let's use a 20' x 20' plot as an example. Most coins and rings will fit into a one-inch square area. In a 20' x 20' plot there are 4800 square inches or that many potential targets. So you can see how easy it is to miss a bunch.
