Hi all, I have not been on here for a while, I have a question for you, I have an ace 250 with the dd coil on, now with the stock coil it was easy to know where to dig after pinpointing, but with the dd coil I am finding it difficult to work out where about the detected item is. hope you can help, Thanks........

The DD is even easier after you get used to it. Think of the center of the coil as a narrow blade. I pinpoint by scanning side to side, making a mental note of the strongest signal. Next, I move 90 degrees and sweep again. where the two strongest signals meet is where to dig. A lot of the guys on here find the strongest signal in one direction, and then slowly pull the coil back until the signal tapers off, and the target is then directly in front of the coil. I have tried this, but I'm not as accurate with it as I am with the X method. When I was learning the coil, I put a coin in a phone book and went outside to practice finding the coin's location. It is a quick learning curve, and you'll have it down in no time flat.

Pinpoint off the front center tip of the coil right under the logo. Center the target then drag the coil straight back wiggling it side to side an inch or so as you do. When the signal stops the target will be under the logo. You usually don't even need to press pinpoint.

Typically a Concentric coil is deeper and more sensitive than a DD coil of the same size because of the way the frequency enters the soil. The DD coil will out perform a concentric coil on hot soils (heavy mineralized). A larger coil will be deeper because it generates a larger magnetic field.
