The ship is in Hawaii but can't remember the name of it....Ma's memory doesn't work but I should know! Could go look on Net but will wait until someone else gives the name! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Oh, I remember, as I was 6 years old and it has been told over and over every year for more than 60 years, about Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, so how could I forget...but I did forget the name! :heh: May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

My mind kept thinking it was the AZ but I wasn't sure! Ma Betty

While spending a few days in a Ghost Town about 1976 my friend and I met a Pearl Harbor survivor and we had a great evening together. Never saw him again. His name was Val Noss from Salt Lake City.

I've actually been there. It's a sight to behold. The oil still comes up from the depths and makes a slick on the surface.

USS Arizona, been there. It will bring you to tears if you are an American.

I know! When I came back from Korea before my unit went to Viet Nam, we sailed to Hawaii and was there for a day to refuel. On the way into the harbor, we passed the Arizona Memorial and it took my breath away. Most of the men on that ship went down with it.

Australia suffered it's first surprise attack by the Japanese on 19th December 1942.

It was just as big a "Day of Infamy" as was Pearl Harbour, but I'll be surprised if anyone in the USA even knows it happened.

And many more attacks followed, in fact there were 26 bombing attacks on Australian cities.

I visited the Arizona memorial about 40 years ago and, even for a non-American, it is an emotional place.

No, I never heard of Australia being attacked right after Pearl Harbour and thanks for letting us know...it was a sad time for America and the whole world! I knew of London, England's bomb shelters and the bombings by Germany...but did not know about Japan's attacks on your country! They did attack the Phillipines and many other places but Praise God for General McArthur for his part in the war and returning to the Phillipines! Without generals like him and all the brave fighting men who gave of themselves and their lives during World War II we would not have won and the whole world would be far different than it is now....but seems to be going that way again, as people forget and history repeats itself! I pray that our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren do not have to live and endure a World War like we did in the 1940's but I believe as true American patriots, they will arise to the occassion if it becomes necessary to defeat Communist and even Muslim Terrorists again! Amen! Ma Betty
