Decision iron or masked silver?????

Would like to hear input on specific sounds and the deciding factors whether a target is iron or masked silver? I personally haven't figured it out yet, so I thought I'd ask. I'm sure others would like to read the responces. Thanks for your input. Mike

2 way hit using discrimination, then you dig. One way will produce good targets at times. A way I use to determine at times is when you get a hit in Conductive then go to TTF and All Metal and slowly circle the target and listen for high tone. Usually you'll get a decent high tone in with the iron at a certain spot. Those usually produce something non-ferrous. Sorry for the short reply...I'm tired. :goodnight:

dude you gotta dig it... when in doubt dig it out! Or leave it... I'll dig it out for you and take the chance. Most silver now a days are only there because it is an iffy signal! The easy stuff has been dug over the last 30 years.

Thanks ! that is a great video . I like the way that you took your time and really analyzed the signals. Nice job

Exactly, that's how it just happened to me
Was at a school that had produced many silvers and there was an iffy sound
It had all sorts of numbers including 12-43 at about 6+ inches
I asked the husband to scan and he said it only goes one way and i said I read it in the forum and I'm going to dig
Or rather he dug the hole because the ground was so hard and have some hand issues now
Out came the 1940 Mercury!!

P.S. there are great videos posted about deep silver sounds which will educate and surprise you

today this exact thing happened to me at the park. I got a breif null, high tone, then null.....so I hit quick mask and it screamed iron, and showed 33-45, I turn 90 degrees still in quick mask and still get a 33-45....so back in to coin mode again and I keep getting a lil blip in there, so I flip it into TTF and a clear as bell 12-41 screams out, just plain as day......so right there is how I do it. You go into TTF and if it gives you a nice coin range number from two ways you better be digging!!!

it was a wheat and a nail, happened 3 times today....see my post above, titled Hunt for gold turned into nickel night if you want to see pics, etc....

Do you change your profile to a TTF selection or just change the individual settings? I tryed TTF the other day... and wow, I thought multitone gave alot of signals. Thanx, I'll try your method.

I have several screens set up so I can flip back and forth in less than 2 seconds.....TTF give mixed signals? it is either high or low tone, how much simpler can it be?

Here is one thing to keep in mind when analyzing targets....

How much time are you spending checking a target from all angles, then rechecking again from all angles in different modes?

How much time would it take to dig a plug and look at the target?

I have found it is often much fast just to dig those iffy targets. If you have very hard ground, it might not be.

As you said not when you dig 8+ inches down in difficult or hard ground
Today I dug three iffy signals over 8 inches, one was a Silver 1964 Washington Quarter and the other two were clad Quarters
Once you have a deep silver you need to go after the other deep signals
