Deep Tech discrimination

Which model DT has the widest range of discrimination ?.....or is it that the range has to be narrow due to the design ? At any rate, what is the point of such a narrow discrimination range......My DT Gold hits targets deep, and plays well in the iron, but I often wish for a wider range of discrimination......Thanks....Jim

Jim, I think that the Sprite has the widest range on disc , made especially for the UK ground.. Hopefully, DT will come out with a machine that has more disc. It will be a winner for sure.. Richard

I'm also in the market for a new machine. I am intrigued by the new Deeptech Gain Gold with the great audio nuances that go with it. I understand that most of Deeptech sales are in Europe finding the small non ferrous hammered stuff.....but here in the U.S. larger deep silver coins are what I'm after. Would this machine pick up every small article of trash and make it difficult to search without a wide range discrimination dial and notch? It seems to me this is a specialized machine around iron and not a general purpose coin hunting machine.

You are right. The frequency - 30 kHz is not optimized for high conductors - it’s a relic machine - pure and simple.

Hello all.....

If you want to hoover up a park then the DeepTech machines are for you, now if you want to pick and choose then your option are limited but can be helped with coil discipline and a few adjustments to the settings.

If you want a machine for the field and to find the tiny stuff then the Vistas hold their own without a shadow of doubt, it's all in the setup, especially on the VGG over the Warrior, I'm truly enjoying the VGG in the fields, I know I'm not missing much when set up to be the cats whiskers, Truly remarkable how tiny you can grab items that can be hard for the probe to find at times.

Want the larger deeper stuff but avoing tiny items ? then it's there all in the setup again... will make a five minute video this coming week explaining all.

My VGG with the 11 inch coil hits my buried 9 inch merc dime and 13 inch silver quarter in my test garden as well or better than the machines I have ( E-Trac, CZ's. V3i,, MXT, F75LTD, X-Terra). Hits the nickles even better.

The machine is not a pure coin shooter due to the wide iron discrimination range and only going up to foil range. So yes, you will dig lots of aluminum trash if that is the trash you encounter when coin shooting. Not having visual ID also hurts it as a pure coin shooter.

Get into nails and small iron...it will tear that stuff up and find lots of non-ferrous targets in iron.

With the Super Six coil on it, it's crazy good in recovery speed and separation.

Coins do sound smaller and concise in the audio...but so do square tabs and rounder trash targets. Bigger aluminum, round tabs with the 'tounge' on them straight out do not sound like coins and the audio is bigger and sometimes double hits when sweeping fairly quick over the target.

Been doing a lot of testing since I got mine a few days ago. Haven't hunted much due to the weather.

My prime application with this unit is gold jewelry hunting in tot lots and dry sand. I know I will dig lots of trash but this unit hits small gold and chains better than any unit I have.

DeepTech did a great job eliminating the F/S switch and putting a Gain control on the unit. Using the Gain and Sensitivity settings in tandem and setting them up for the environment/application you are hunting in is key. Having the ability to hear the iron and have it's own volume control is a major plus.

I like this unit A LOT.

If you had to categorize the unit for hunting applications here in the US, then relic hunting would be its forte.

Out of DeepTechs lineup which may serve as a better silver coin shooting machine? Would it be the Vista Smart plus? I do like the pinpointing option on it and at 15kz may be great for silver.....but does the discrimination range go higher than foil? I wish the audio frequency on high tones would be higher at 780hz like the other machines.

And what about the RG-1000 V-2 anyone use this machine at 12khz?

Being they are predominantly field machines the disc range is mainly iron, foil can be knocked out depending on size and will produce real scratchy audio, for coin hunting in trashy places I would use the supersix coil and run full disc and just keep to the clean cut sharp signals... will be very productive indeed.

When turning the discrimination knob for full discrimination, what are the common items being discriminated out at this highest setting ??.....Can someone show a picture of the various locations on the discrimination knob, and show what is being discriminated out ? I realize that there’s variables....I’m interested in ball park examples.......Thanks, Jim

You will not lose you normal modern sized coinage with full disc within reason, all depends on depth and angles and so on, small thin foil will low tone even some cut can pieces, but you will lose micro jewellery and real tiny thin coinage that can be found here in Britain.

I'm waiting for the weather to calm so I can get out and make a video on the likes of this, here in England we've had some very unsettled weather so just waiting for it all to calm down then I can get some videos made

I have used the Vista Gold (not the Gain) mainly for schoolyard and park hunting, it does extremely well even with the disc range it has. I liked using the Super Six coil.

for US coins....disc on VGG all the way up will knock out 1 dollar gold coin, 3 cent nickel, and flying eagle cent....need to keep it at most, 2 sections down...like 1 or 2 oclock to not miss those....the whole reason I bought this unit.
