Deepest detector less than three hundred ollars

A friend of mine asked about metal detectors. He going to hunt farm fields so he wants a deep seeker that cost less than three hundred dollars. I dont know what entry level machine to suggest. I was thinking tesoro Silver U-max or Fisher F2. He will be hunting fertile black illinois dirt. Any suggestions. He doesnt care about meters he just want depth.

I would agree for depth the tesoro, my vaquero is much deeper than my F-4, and i would say the f-2 and f-4 are probably comparable in depth. So if the silver U-max is comparable to the vaquero in depth, than tesoro for depth.

When you are talking deep and then you put a $300 cap on it, I think I would start looking in the used market. You can for sure move up in performance over entry level detector. Just have several in mind and watch.

What ever he finds for $300 will work about the same IMHO. If depth is his priority, get a true all metal mode detector but I bet he will get tired of digging iron real quick. I would encourage him to up his budget a couple hundred more and the used market will give him a wider choice of used upper end detectors with discrimination or even a used PI.

Thanks for the tips. He came over awhile ago and he went with the Fisher with two coils.

Everyone will tell you something different. look at a good name brand, fisher garrett (minelab 305 my choice) etc. and please do not judge any detector by air testing all that means it's working LOL.
