Deepest on lead?

SWMO Mark

New member
I know most people on here are primarily coin hunters. I was hopeing someone could tell me if there is any difference in depth on lead bullets, ex. Civil war 56 cal. minie ball. between the Exp 2, Exp SE or E-trac. They are really trying to push the Fisher LTD as the deepest relic detector in mineralized ground. Still waiting for someone to prove its the best. For now, I will keep useing my Exterra 705 for relics until someone shows me something deeper. Anyone done any relic hunting with any of the top end Minelabs? Thanks, Mark

I've been learning my SE since June and am about to hit the woods with it. So far I've dug a few minnie balls that were 10+ inches while trying to figure out the best settings. When I find what works best for me in the area I hunt I think it will be very deep. I used a Safari and the xterra 50 with 10.5" coil last winter, both were very deep on bullets, dug a few that were 12 inches. Your 705 with a 10.5 med freq coil should keep up with anything out there and out hunt most, in my opinion. I've compared signals with a F75, DFX, MXT, and xterra 70 and while all read the deep stuff I believe the SE got the better signal (to my ears anyway). I find the Fishers to be too chattery for me and I have a hard time picking out the deep signals. All of this is just my opinion of course.

Hey Mark. I dug a .69 cal minie ball out of a park here a while bak at a measured 11 inches. Dug quite a few others that easily went 9 inches or more. sound can be a little iffy on some a cursor will bounce all over from left to right but once you learn it, you can find them as you have seen me do in the parks here lately.
