DEEPEST STAR WORKS!!!

I only got to hunt one day this weekend, got called in to work. I started out at the Holiday Inn and it took a little bit to get everything tuned the way I liked it. I was getting a false on the end of my swing on the right side. I remembered a post about how good the deepstar case is shielded so I slid the detector from my right hip to my middle back and this cured it. The Ikelite case being plastic must not shield to well. Well after 3 hours of hunting in 3 to 4 feet of water. I found $3.27 in clad, a nice swiss dive watch,10 kt gold mans ring with an eagle on top, two silver ear rings and a dozen pull tops. I was very pleased with the results and with hurricane Debbey bearing down on us it will only get better. The project was more involved than I expected. I ordered a 5810 case and it was way to big, could of waterproofed my big screen TV in that case. So I ordered the 4810 case and it was a little to small about the size of a Barracuda case, but deeper 9". I liked the case so much I decided to try and make it work. I did the unthinkable and proceded to mark how I was going to cut the circuit board and have the best layout and the least jumpers. I ended up cutting the 4 inch battery section out it has no circuit traces and that left me with a U shape board. I then cut at the bottom of the U and that left me two identical L shaped boards with 9 traces to ribbin cable. The boards matched up perfect even the mounting holes so I could use nylon standoff screws to piggyback the boards on top of each other. This reduced the space required to half. I mounted the original battery pack on the bottom and then the board and then mounted the new pots on the top. I added a 500k for the auto tresh adjustment and I like that alot. This helps in salt water. Well I got to get back to work. I will send a picture of the finished detector and the 30 or so nice rings it has found in the last month. Happy Hunting Kurt
