Keith Southern has tried several models I beleive each with a video, very impressive results.
I ordered the Vista Gold model, It operates at 25 khz very strong on lower conductive signals. From the videos and what I'm hearing it will detect deeper on the lower conductive signals, handle mineralizition Extreamly well and could be used for nugget hunting.
For me, it'll strictly be for relic hunting maybe for gold nugget hunting too when I'm up in gold country.
Based from the video, the 8"X11"DD ellipcial gets better separation over the stock 11" round DD. Looking forward to using the machine, looks like a serious model.

I had the Vista RG.....used it for an entire Summer here in Maine.
Overall it was decent machine. I had mine back in the summer of 2011.
Irregardless it has better than average depth but nothing that would blow away anything else that we have in the deep category. I thought the build ws a little cheap actually. All of the pots they used were very cheap fealing and did not move very smooth at all. Now did they break...nope...did they work...yep...just felt cheap.
While I liked the 2 tone audio idea for relic machines I found it to be iffy on deep targets. This is, I suppose, normal for any machine. Honestly it did not do anything that a T2 or F75 couldn't do as far as depth. However it was more stable than those two machines and I suppose that counts at times. Nowhere near as twitchy as the T2/F75. Was not more or less sensitive to any particular targets over any other machine i use for relic hunting
Now if I were going to go for another machine from them I would go for the Smart. From the videos I saw it looks like they cleaned up the audio response a bit which would be great.
So after a whole summer season of using it I got in some good relic time. If they are kept at a reasonable price they will be great machines because they do honestly have good depth and good recovery speed. At $700.00 the Smart to me is a good buy...maybe the Vista Gold to but they are more expenvive now than when you could order them direct..actually alot more expensive but then again you do not have to wait for them to come in from Eastern Europe.
They are good machines.....but fiddle faddle with claims of superior depth.... they are not the deepest vlf machines ever made....but I would put them up in the senior class just not valedictorian level.

Hello there Smokey63 i'm probably one of the pioneers of the vista herein U.S. as i'm here in maine also the vista gold that you see keith has been demoing use to be mine and also owned a rg 1000 plus i own right now the RELIC and just got the SMART model yesterday these are really site and pasture machines very deep and responsive, these are not park machines by any stretch the biggest thing to overcome is aluminum and has a signature sound on pull tabs when using Cheap head phones calrads, treasurewise, so on but there all good machines now they have the improved cords on the coils so there alot less falsing, parks and school yards and tot lots you will get frustrated unless you have extremly trained ear, i've done it but you work for your targets but if you have a nice relic site or pretty or near clean pasture land this is the one to have pure iron discrimnators only
From watching the videos, they seem to get good results in mineralized soils, they handle the Georgia red clay very well, no emi issues. The price is good.
Apparently keith is getting better depth in Georgia, than AMC was getting in Maine, with the same unit. AMC, care to chime in here?

funny you asked about the vaquero, i started with one love it still but vista's will take it in depth plus the audio of the vista's is so much more info to it as well you won't dig very much thats for sure ass a begginer you disc all the up and still keep all your nickels and so fourth but will still will get aluminum too, and as i stated in my other thread these machines are not designed for school, park, totlot type of hunting unless your willing to dig everything and as i stated in the other thread you can but really got to have a trained ear or you will get frustrated, i've done it but you will work for your good targets
