DeepTech Vista Gold

Sven

Well-known member
After years of always wanting to get a Deeptech beep and dig...after reading all AMC's posts etc.
Finally gave in. Well can't be digging for up to three months due to surgery. So I sold off two other machines
figuring to wait until I get better and buy maybe for the Warrior or a used Smart. Shortly after selling the two,
a good deal came up on a used Vista Gold. Just couldn't pass it up, even knowing I can probably only stare at it
for several months...so I jumped on it, has an updated search coil and a Super 6 coil.

:detecting:

You should really like the Vista Gold in heavy iron contaminated sites Sven. Great target seperation, and the boost mode and iron volumn control are top of the line. Depth is amazing for such a high frequency machine. Variable tone break once understood is a great feature to customize the detector to the particular site that you are hunting that day. A lot of machine for the money. The stock coil and super 6 coil are both great at target seperation. I am just getting around to some time on the Epic 14" round coil, so I need a little time to see how deep, stable, and how good the target seperation will be on this coil. This coil is more for open areas with less trash I would think. Hope you have a speedy recovery from surgery....Stuart

The Gold arrived today in a huge box compared to the box the Berkut arrived in.
Dug into the box and pulled out a really nice looking unit, appears as it has never been used.
Now I have something nice to play around with inside the house, maybe manage the backyard, if the wife is not looking.
I'm supposed to take it very easy after last Fridays hospital visit. The Super 6 coil is a nice size, not too small, not to large.

Spent about an hour bench testing with a Super 6 coil.
Wow, this detector is nice. Set it up like I would a beep and dig Tesoro to accept Canadian clad on edge in disc mode.
Which is down in the iron range, you can still tell nails easily enough. In 2 tone mode, it is set to give a high tone when the clad is flat
and on edge. What I noticed is the clad on edge gives a buzz at the beginning and end of the target signal, yet a good coin sound in the center.
And if you slow down your sweep the buzz-beep-buzz is very pronounced. I haven't gotten any other type of coins or junk to do that.

The audio sound really nice using a cheap pair of Calrad headphones.

I should have quit buying, playing with different Tesoros two years ago and bought a Deeptech...................

August can't come soon enough.....

Sven you are in for some awesome finds my friend man I'm just trying to get some cash rounded up for another but trying to do hobbies at once is hard and expensive and very difficult to convince the wife LOL!
