Found an old homestead not even a hundred yards from my treestand.I've been hunting there twenty years and never really noticed the way the rocks were stacked in the shape of a foundation. Then I got my Explorer 2 last year and it finally dawned on me to detect it.I found some old spoons then some iron relics which I think were part of the harness rigging. Then the guts to an old lantern a button and then paydirt with the large cent.I boiled it in peroxide for hours but I couldn't get a date on it.I'm guessing the site to be early 1800's.The button has a 3D image of a boars head on it,kinda like a razorback with tusks. On the back it has extra rich on the bottom and I think it says treblestand across the top.I tried to scan it but it didn't come out at all.Anyone with any info on it would be appreciated.I'm hoping Santa brings me a digital camera for Christmas so I can post more than coins.Anyway thanks for looking and Merry Chritmas to all.
Terry in central PA.

Hi Terry wtg on the large cent and button. Try this the next time you scan something dark colored. Cover it with black or dark colored paper or leave the scanner lid open. This will most likely make the dark colored coin much lighter when scanned.
I use a piece of black cardboard that is not too big that way I can select a tiny portion of the white background so the coins don't come out too light.

A friend of mine found this one near an old foundation here in northern Va this year. I found one in an old CW camp, but was taken from me(long storie)Those are depicting a wolf or fox, But they did make one with a boars head also.Sportsman buttons,Late 1700-early 1800 is all i know about them. someone else hunted the same area as you only a few years ago.HH at that new foundation spot.Have a great Holiday
