Deja Vu Hunt: Barber, Roosie - where's the Merc still???

Howdy,

I went back to an area I tried a couple weeks ago, not the same location but close by. Last time I found a '49-D Roosie and a 1900 Barber. This time I found a 1907 Barber and a '48-D Roosie. Couldn't bag a Merc either time!

This time I found the Barber first near the base of a tree. At first I thought it was going to be a clad dime due to the color, but then saw the back of it as I recovered it and was stoked then. That was enough to keep me in the area and search more carefully. I found the Roosie just a short time afterwards, which kinda put some pressure on the rest of the hunt in an odd way. With two quick silver hits I was hoping I could sniff out the Merc, and I kept thinking about it in the back of my mind (well, OK, right smack dab in front). Turns out I didn't find anything after that but a bit of clad, so might have been trying too hard. Same thing happened the last hunt in this area. After I found the Barber, I burned up the rest of my time around where I found it, not really finding anything else. The Barber trap!

But two silvers helps balance out the ten Wheats from before, even though it took different locations. Oh well. The hunting days are numbered for the season now, gotta soak up the signals left.

Thanks for looking!

Nice stuff Flipper. Ya, seasons almost done. I gotta get out and find me some silver before the ground freezes. HH and good luck.

Nice finds. Enjoy the swingin' while you can because the nasty freezing temps are right around the corner:thumbdown:

WTG!!!! I haven't found a Barber dime in over 20yrs!
CONGRATS!

Nice silver congrats. Was that barber under a walnut tree I have never seen one that dark dug here?

Hmm, I think it was an oak, but I don't know that I looked up enough to tell! I think it was possibly mixed in with some fill, so could have darkened from something else. But I do think it's about the most discolored one I've found so far.

Nice hunt dirtflipper. I would prefer to find the barber dime anyway but I like anything silver. You'll get a mercury next time.
