I bought a Fisher F5 last weekend and I'm not real happy with it, it might even be bad, and I'm asking question in the Fisher F forum. How good of a detector is the DeLe

i've owned 5 deleons and i've always got a first with one, very good depth if your soil is mild, ground bal is preset but if you do buy one and find that ground bal is a issue take a soil sample and machine send it back to tesoro and they will adjust to your soil cond, depth is really good i can run mine about 10 and a hair past does very well the TID is not bad for going all over the place once you find and size your object and stays locked on number and block you can almost bet the farm its what its showing, have been trying some prospecting a little bit also with it and running the 4" coil and you can tell the difference on hot rocks compared to metal objects for sure the last hunt i went on was a 1800's farm house mild topsoil though and dug a 1919 wheat penny a good 8" which is pretty deep for maine finds anyway the target locked on 95 and did'nt change much and sometimes things at this depth tend to that but i will say its avery stable machine for the most part if you find it gets alittle eratic just cut the sens back until the chatter stops and this last one i got power lines might make it chatter a bit but all in all i think its a great machine and a bit underated, to sum it up if your ground bal is there it will go pretty deep and meter will still work in all metal and you will get the good stuff

I looked at the F5 prior to buying my DeLeon. The F5 is a nice unit and gets good reports from what I have read.

The Deleon is very light, and easy to use. I run mine orould the 7-8 sens mark and a bit below a Nickle in Disc. I have been very happy with it, Beale.

I'm with Beale.

I mostly hunt tot lots, but I have been running my D at min disc, and sens below 3. It still hits on stuff below the ground cloth in all the tot lots, and finds deep coins in them 7-9" where the chips are that deep. And that depth is with very low sensitivity. TID is good once you learn the specific way stuff reads on a given machine. ie: zincolns read in the low 80's, and trash zinc metal reads in the 70's, but both show a solid zinc bar. Trash foil/wrappers tend to read between 4-22. My D LOVES nickles, and is rather hot on dimes for some reason.

I've had my Deleon for 3 years now, and I'm just getting the hang of it! Maybe I'm just slow, I used to be Hot Stuff with the older analog detectors, but I'm having to pay my dues all over again!
All in all the Deleon is a superior detector, it's a pleasure to swing, batteries last forever, it detects deeper than I care to dig. Be prepared to practice, I guess that's the whole point! GOOD LUCK!

tried to send you a message but you are too new here. if you decide to get a Deleon let me know, bought one new in April this year and would like to sell it due to financial reasons and too many detectors in my inventory.
