Delta 4000 and nickels?

Robert. On my Delta if it's really a nickel under there I get a strong 59-60 signal and the tone is very strong but not real high in pitch. Kinda like a high mid tone. I once found a 5 gram 14K gold ring at three inches in damp ground that "Screamed" as a solid hit at 59 - 60 with light sweeps. If its lower than 58 on the scale it's almost always a pull tab or similar item. I dig below 58 anyway as it "could" be a nickel or even a lower karat or plated ring. Where I hunt it can get pretty trashy so I switched to the 5x10 DD a while back. After plenty of digging you kinda get a feel for the nickels. If I had to put a number to it I'd say 2 of 10 hits from 56 - 60 are nickels but the stronger and higher they are to 60, the better the possibility. Good Luck!

After using it a while you will get a "feeling" it is a nickel and most of the time it will be. Look out for those 58/59 signals.
