I'm interested in hearing from some Delta owners about the pros and cons of the detector. There doesn't seem to be alot about the detector on Youtube that I can find.
From what I have found, it seems to be a decent detector with quick recovery speed and a few nicer features for the price.

I won't be using this as my main detector, more for friends that might want to try detecting or maybe just a change of pace from my CZ5 or Vaquero.
I hunt farm fields, yards, old picnic groves, and my local football field when I want someplace close to home. My dirt is pretty good and preset GB shouldn't be a problem.
Will the Delta with stock 8 inch coil perform good in a farm field setting where the debris from the old home can be hard to hunt ?
There seems to be lots of old iron mixed in with good targets in the fields. My Vaquero works well in this type of setting but does get fooled by the iron sometimes.
Any Delta users care to tell me their thoughts on this detector.....it looks like it could be a fun little machine and I really like the huge display........thanks and HH....

Hi Roger, I have one i keep for friends to use. I have used it once or twice, it seam to do good. I let a friend use it, he had never used one before, so he didn,t dig so much trash i set it just for coins. This park was real trashed. He did just about as good as i did with my $800.00 detector. That is what i like about it you can knot out almost all trash.and still get good depth. Seams to be built good. I think if you get one you will be happy with it for what it is. Don,t think your going to do as good as a high price detector but for a back up or loner, i think it will do just as good or better as any in it,s price line. Good Luck Flintstone

The 4000 does an awesome job in field coin hunting. My only peeve on it is that when close to high wires the EMI gets to it and you have to lower the sens. It , in my opinion, goes deeper than the 250 and of course the weight is a big plus. Great detector for the price.

For a turn on and go ID machine pretty good for the price. In trashy places instead of disc mode I started to hunt in all metal mode, listen to the single tone and watch the numbers. Mainly hunt this way as there is too much canslaw and other garbage mixed in that multi-tones will drive you nuts when hunting with low discrim. Have to hunt tis way as our modern Canadian clad is nickel plated steel crap. And can ID in the low iron range if on edge.... Depth wise it was on par to the Omega I had when coin hunting even tho it has fixed GB. Recall that I liked hunting with it more than the Omega but, liked the notching better on the Omega. It's super lightweight, feels better mounted on the Tesoro s-handle. The Delta was bought for my wife, now with feet and leg problems, she may not be hunting for a long time. Maybe she'll want to sell it?

I would not advise you to buy this MD. It has some good features such as: light wt., easy to use and large display ect. but it has been very unreliable for me. It constantly hits on trash but tells me it's a coin, I dig and 95% of the time it is a pull tab or bottle cap. When I lower sen. and or notch all but dime +, it still targets mostly trash and tells me it's a dime or qr..
I just can't understand why pull tabs show as dimes, they shouldn't come up with all trash notched out The only times I have good results are in tot-lots with wood mulch. Sorry but this is how I feel and would not wish this MD on anyone.

There's many reasons for false signals that happens to all VLF detectors no matter which brand. Try pumping or bobbing the coil over a target, that can help narrow down those jumpy IDs.

Thanks ED, I'm just close to giving up on this detector. I've done garden tests and coins target correctly, my main peeve is with pull tabs and rusty nails. the tabs consistently show as 58-60 (nickel) and I have dug nails when showing dime or better.
I notch nickel and all below to get rid of tabs and they just move to dimes??
I bought this kind of MD mainly because my back disability prevents me from kneeling and digging all sig.. I thought with the display and filtering features this MD would work best,within my budget,but what I'm learning is that most MD's say they filter trash but really don't....again thanks

Flintstone, I'm using the stock 8 inch coil and I've read the 11in. DD coil can remedy some of these problems but thats another 150.-200.$..

Hey Joe, I've had a Delta since March. I'd never used a detector before and it took me about 2 months to really get in tune with it. The complaints rendered are justifiable as the discrimination is not what it's cracked up to be. I almost NEVER use it in discriminate. Even notched out at the lowest sensitivity. I use the A2 all metals at sens 10 almost exclusively. Trashy areas are a real pain. I have been able to listen a little closer to the sound and pay not so much attention to the numbers. Although it's still a crap shoot with most of the finds, and I can honestly say if I dug it all I'd need a backhoe and a sleuce. I do a lot of sports fields where the grass is constantly being mowed, sliced, fertilized, plugged etc... and if I find another sizable piece of can slaw or whole can popping at 95 + I'm opening a recycling business to boot. I have found kennedy halves and referree tokens though at that same number area. I was using the 8" concentric almost exclusively, bought the 10" DD Elliptical, got disgusted with it during the summer and the rock hard dry ground, went back to the 8", then retried the 10" DD in the Fall in wetter ground. After acclimating to it I now prefer it to the 8" as it does target about 3" deeper than the 8" concentric. All in all I'm happy with the Delta as a beginning machine. When I upgrade in the Spring, I'm giving it to my son down in Virginia. I'm probably going to get a Minelab Explorer SE Pro or an Etrac. I think Minelab is coming out with a new machine soon as both are now five or so years from original production and the new CTX 3030 can't stand alone when the DEUS is hanging about. I think the FBS technology can't be beat and of the few people I meet out there "ground fishing" most have Minelabs. Don't get me wrong as the Delta has paid for itself twice over including the extra coil, new pinpointer etc.... BUT if I had a machine that would slow me down and give me better depth and discrimination, I could definately make it pay for itself in clad, gold and silver jewelry. IMHO

I got my Delta today and ran a few coins under the coil to check it out. It hit all coins with good solid hits to respectable depths for an entry detector.
The Delta is almost too light, I'd rather feel some more heft to the detector, but should be able to swing this all day with no problems. Nice features for a detector in this price range.

Will be spring before I get a chance to use it outside to get a real idea how it performs in the dirt, but seems to have solid performance in my air tests.............HH

Been detecting 35 years. Had several "so called top of the line detectors" I have several now..I bought a Delta 4000 some time ago for the heck of it. But lately I have been using the Delta myself. I have about come to the conclusion I had rather hunt with the Delta than anything else I have. Simple and easy to use.Just thought I would put my 2 cents in.....Jack

Qualifying my statement, I should have said a 5x10 DD coil. Not a 10 inch, which would be an 11" actually. The bigger coils go deeper. The smaller coils are for finer searching.
