Delta turns itself off.

Our club member has a Delta really likes it.
It's do a shut down after about an hour of detecting every now and then.
I took a look batter compartment and battery is secure.
Anyone else have this problem.

Is there a factory reboot on this detector?

If you use high powered alkaline batteries or industrial batteries, this will cause this. Be sure it is just a plain old 9 volt.

There should be a factory reset method. Go on the Teknetics site and see if you can download a manual. The reset combination should be indicated in it. It's worth a try.

I have a delta 4000 and the metal detector sometimes turn itself off also, mines will not work with a regular 9 volt batteries. when it restart back all the icons shows back up and I have to notch them back out. a good detector and it loves dimes and quarters

Ouch! sorry I missed this thread, there's some misinformation in it.

All of our products that run on 9 volt batteries are designed to be used with good quality alkalines, or other (usually much more expensive) rechargable or nonrechargable chemistries that have low internal resistance and can drive heavy loads. So-called "heavy duty" batteries are an old non-alkaline zinc-carbon technology and may or may not work depending on the manufacturer. Ordinary cheap zinc carbons will either not turn on, or will deliver very short service life before going crazy.

Several years ago we had a problem with one of our products that had an electronic on-off button that sometimes malfunctioned. Sorry, don't remember which specific model. So first step is to use a good quality alkaline (I usually prefer Energizer, in my personal experience Duracell quality has really gone downhill the last several years). If that doesn't fix the problem, and if it's not an intermittent battery contact that shuts off when you give the machine a little thwack, then it may be that electronic problem. If that's what it turns out to be, call our Teknetics service department and arrange to have it repaired under warranty. Sorry, I don't remember our 800 number, but the regular number is 915 633-8354 and ask for Teknetics customer service.
