I have had occasion to hunt two old one room school house locations in my area. (I have another one lined up that I haven't hunted yet)

Anyway------The first one proved out, and I was lucky enough to find one 1868 2 cent coin, and one Indian Head coin.(date unreadable) I hunted this area twice, and was happy with those two finds.

The second location held great expectations (in my own mind), and I was looking to find some more older coins. I spent most of one day hunting the area, and never found one coin, and came away very dissapointed.

So--------the old school house location that you got turned down on could hold some great treasures for you, OR, it could be empty as my last one was, so it might not be worth all the trouble that you went to, trying to get permission to hunt. You never know until you hunt it, but since you can't get permission, its best just to move on, and let whatever is there stay there. Some of my biggest dissapointments have come from places that I had high hopes for, but came to find out after hunting them, that they held nothing worth finding.

Just my 2 cent worth.

YOU KNOW IT...................... back then they hid their valuables in the ground a lot of times in case of break ins so no one could find their valuables....PLUS and and large caches of money that they might have..... might even find some 5, 10 and 20 dollar gold pieces
