Denton, MT 1916 sidewalk replacement hunts - FINAL

The sidewalk hunts are over.
I had a total of 11 hunts. Averaged about 2 hours each.

TOTALS:
1 Indian Head Penny
6 V Nickels
10 Barber Dimes
1 Mercury Dime
1 Roosevelt Dime
1 Chinese coin

2 Buttons
1 Token - 3 1/2 cent in trade for Happys Billiard Hall Denton Mont
1 Cross Pendant
???(possible token)
1 ring (junk)
1 metal tag(ribbon, thread, or fabric)
1 "B" from a nameplate
remains of a pocket watch

I'm pretty happy with what I found, but I'll always wonder what I missed because of all the nails, my inexperience, and coil choices.(9" MF, 10" MF DD, 5x10" HF) The coil that worked the best for these hunts was the stock 9" coil. I think the 6" Concentric would have been the best choice...if I had one.

Anytime you can pull 10 Barber dimes out of one general locale, you've done a great job! Not to mention the other assorted goodies. Don't try to second guess yourself on what coulda, woulda, shoulda. Just enjoy the fact that you had the foresight to watch this place "open up",the skillset to pull so many great coins out of an area that will not likely be exposed to the eyeballs of mankind again and the determination to keep going back! Most of the "doubt" comes from the very last dime I found(1906). It was a "semi" repeatable signal. It would sound solid, I'd X it...and it would disappear. Same place, 2 nights, 2 different coils. So I finally decided to dig it. Pulled a nail. Same type of signal...but the X changed. Pulled another nail. Nothing there...but now the semi repeatable signal move 4 inches. Dug again. Another nail. Finally a solid signal. (keep in mind...the Pro Pointer is finding several targets all through this process). FINALLY dug the 1906.

What bothers me......if I had been THAT dogged on EVERY iffy signal(no....I did not leave many iffy signals, but there were a few)....could I have found a couple more dimes????? AND why weren't there more pennies?

I didn't post the clad....because....there was less than a dollar...and, it was VERY modern clad. For that matter, the Roosevelt was actually found in a pile of gravel that was to be spread over the new sidewalk bed. I think the Rosie came in with the gravel.

In the end ,I know, it doesn't matter. I'm the only one that tried(yes, I now know there are other metal detectors in the area).

I'll probably frame my finds and display them during our Centennial in 2013.

Great finds, and good on you for getting out there and giving it your best shot. If we constantly think about what we might have missed, we would all be wandering round in a constant state of depression. You got out there and found some great coins for your efforts. Well done !
