It's all about Africa. Minelab had to slash their prices on the Gpx and Gpz - they have lost the VLF market compeletely to First Texas. Now FT will have to answer this peice challange from XP.

Africa is where all the money is in detector sale, we are a sideshow in comparison.

XP makes it all right - but anyone in the Western Hemisphere can't get it. From what I understand now - it's aimed at the African gold market.

I live in gold country here in CO, so this appeals to me - but I'm not African LOLOL

This detector is going to solely be to fill the gold prospecting market and not an all around metal detecting machine. So if all you do is gold prospect then it would fit.

The new coil for the Deus V4 when it comes runs on 10 . 20 . 30 . 40 KHTS . Surely they are good enough freqs for prospecting ? and there is a Gold prospecting program on the Deus .

Once again rumors rule so after contacting Alain directly, here's the bottom line about Depar detectors and the model people are clamoring to buy at the price listed:

The unit you see listed on their website is currently only available in the countries that they are authorized to sell to. Depar has been in business for a long time and they strictly abide by the terms of their contract so selling outside of that area is not something they do.

They also sell XP units including the Deus as you can see from their website.

The unit you see for sale is the dedicated gold detector that is being used in the African gold fields. It lacks many of the features found on the Deus such as wireless headphones (and can't be added), multi frequencies, etc. It is set to the gold field program found on the Deus - one program which is what the people that buy them wanted - limited adjustments, simple to use. And before people challenge this by reading the spec sheet posted on their website, XP has sated that this is not what that model offers and is on touch with Depar to get that corrected. Since they built it, I'd put my money on that information rather than more speculation. Also, as Alain pointed out, the price listed does not include the VAT (Value Added Tax) which is strictly enforced in the countries listed that Depar serves so you can add another 10% to 18% to that price.

XP has said that there will be a Gold-Only model available worldwide next year but unless you need a stripped down model only for prospecting, the Deus with the HF coils offers far more versatility than the Gold unit does / will and will be the detector of choice for most detectorists.

XP has had Gold units in the African market for some time and the unit on Depar's site is what has been sold before. The HF coils and V4.0 will open up more market to XP in that region as well as the worldwide market.

There is so much Gossip going around regarding this machine and 99% is NOT True,


Rick I phoned the UK Deus Importers who have very close ties with XP and this is what they said.


1) It is a single Program machine.

2) It is a Non Motion machine

3) it does not work with the Cordless Headphones

4) They are made in Dubai Solely for the African Market

5) and if they were on sale over here they would cost £750.00 / $1278.74c AUD ou $934.00 USD at the current exchange rate.

6) At present there is only that one Coil made for them,

7) At present "ONLY" Africa is getting them

His final comments were you are better off buying the Deus and waiting for the High frequency coil to come out because with V4 installed you will have the same setup but still have the benefits of all the Deus functions, programs etc for roughly the same price of the standard Deus Pak and of coarse the wireless headphones will work with the Deus,

Me too mate, I wanted one until he told me about it's limitations, The reason it is so cheap is because it is built for a market where people are on a very limited income and hence why all the programs are missing. It is a shame really.

I have had the Deus a few times but not seen anything about that for me does the business . But i do need a land machine so i will buy a new Goldmaxx Power when i am ready . Only needed for land , minelab's take care of the beach .

Gary, The person who told me this Was the first XP Dealer in the World outside of France and he has been selling the Deus and using them for over 7 years,

He said that One Thing that he really finds Annoying is all the Speculation about this Machine where people are making up their Own Ideas as to what this machine is all about. Because Like you I also said similar things to him and I was quickly corrected.

As Andy Said it is a Very Stripped down version of the Deus with very limited uses, Made for a market where the users are on very little income and the only things that it has in common with the Deus is the Physical design and the High Frequency Coil. Even the Headphones won't work on it,
