Depth/Discrimination.

You explained it perfect. I have the T2 and if I get a target the is deep and I get a tone or half a tone I will dig it. A lot of the times it is a tiny speck of something. Or iron but you can always dig a little of the dirt away and see if you get a better signel or tone.

On the T2 you want to hear the iron it really doesn't effect the machine. You will hear iron and if there is another target in the iron you for the most part hear it also you will get a tone and your numbers may be lower becasue the T2 is reading multy targets. So iron is OK it is trash that gets me tired.

When you get what appears to be a very deep signal, just raise the coil height every so slightly to see if the signal disappears. It it is a very deep signal, then the tone will disappear gradually with increasing height. If the tone disappears quickly, then you probably have a small target close to the surface.

And I think your explanation here is the shortest, sweetest, and easiest to understand I've seen.

Have you permanantly moved on from the explorers?

Chris

Chris,

No. I am still a big Explorer fan. I got the T2 in mid Oct 2006 as a backup to my Explorer. The recovery time is so fast on the T2 that it should be able to pickup a few good targets that have been left behind by the Explorer because of nearby trash. I am not finding very many good targets that have been overlooked (but I would not use the term "missed") by the explorer.

The weather here in Salt Lake City has been poor for most of the time since I bought the T2. I am still on the original set of batteries. It would not be fair to compare the T2 to the Explorer until I become more proficient with the T2.

Good to hear from you Chris.

Glenn
