Depth Master

Ks Coyote

Member
I found this in some misc detecting stuff and hope someone has an idea about it and if it is Whites related. Thanks.

The Depth Master is a small amplifier used with the 6.59 kHz White's detectors. It enhanced the deep, quiet signals and worked as a limiter to keep surface targets from blowing your ears off. I still have one also. They run on one AA Battery.

Because of wiring a specific depthmaster had to be used for Whites..All others used the conventional one..Perhaps an oldtimer can add the name of the Whites model as I can't remember some swore by them for older units of that era...Useless on newer units in most cases....

Years ago I had a set of Depthmaster Superphone headphones I used with a Tesoro and they were pretty good back in the day. Not sure but maybe White's had to be used with the Depthmaster Bluebird set-up?

What you have is the basic Depthmaster audio amplifier/limiter. It was renamed the 'Autotune' for the later variants. There was a special unit similar to yours called the 'BlueBird' for Whites. :whites:
It was wired 'MONO' as Whites used that setup for their metal detector headphone jacks back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. You might want to open it up to see if someone left a battery in it. I hope you don't find one. :(
