Depth...........?

Which do you think would adversely affect depth more........Disc of 25 or an N-1 notch of 0-25 ?

Disc.. disc..disc... notch only prevents audio from reaching the speaker/headphones. Disc starts impacting depth after disc of 10...

martygene...........I just got some time to do some in-ground testing. You are right. Tried no disc or notch, then disc at 30, then notch at 0-30. disc lost about 1.5 inches on an 8" deep quarter, notch only lost about 1/2 inch.

I cant find any depth loss with a disb of 10 or less BUT notch seems to break up any signal thats close to the notch range. say you had 96 -99 notch out. try something that rings in at 94-95 and watch what it does to the signal.

I'm doing that in my "Aluminum Sifter" program and so far haven't seen that effect. I will keep watching for it.

CD, I find your assessment of the notch function right on. I have noticed the same signal disruption. If I use notch, I try to keep the notch numbers at least three numbers away from the target number I'm hunting for. In this way the signal is still strong enough for the item I'm looking for.
